The President of the Republic presided at the Closing Session of the Seminar “Social Economy, Employment and Local Development”, promoted by Caritas Portugal, Centre for National Culture and IPI Consulting Network Portugal, held in the Auditorium of the Head Office of the Bank of Portugal, in Lisbon, during which he delivered an address.

The President of the Republic received, in the Palace of Belém, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, at the beginning of his visit to Portugal. A meeting was held between both Presidents, later enlarged to include both countries’ delegations.

The President of the Republic received, in audience, the Executive Committee of the Forum for Competitiveness.

Included in the programme of his official visit to the European Institutions, the President of the Republic held an encounter, in Brussels, with the Portuguese staff working with those bodies.

The President of the Republic was received in the European Parliament, in Strasbourg, as included in the programme of his official visit to the European Institutions, and delivered a speech to the members of Parliament, during a ceremonial plenary session.

At the beginning of his official visit to the European Institutions, the President of the Republic held a meeting, in Strasbourg, with the Portuguese Members of the European Parliament, with whom he later took part in a dinner/debate.

The Portuguese and Brazilian Presidents, Aníbal Cavaco Silva and Dilma Rousseff, presented the Camões Prize to Mozambican author Mia Couto, during a ceremony held in the National Palace of Queluz.

During the ceremony the President of the Republic delivered a speech.
 

The President of the Republic received, in the Palace of Belém, the President of the Federal Republic of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, in the beginning of her visit to Portugal, holding a meeting between both which was later enlarged to the delegations of both countries.

The President of the Republic addressed a speech and granted decorations to a number of individualities and institutions in the Ceremonial Session Commemorative of the National Day of Portugal, Camões and the Portuguese Communities, which was held in the Elvas Business Centre. 

The President of the Republic presided, in Elvas, at the Military Ceremony commemorating the National Day of Portugal, Camões and the Portuguese Communities, which was held on the location of the Amoreira Aqueduct and in which were represented the three Branches of the Armed Forces.
