The President of the Republic empowered the Chief of the Army General Staff, General Artur Neves Pina Monteiro.

The President of the Republic, accompanied by the Minister for National Defence and by the Chief of the Army General Staff, presided at the launching ceremony of the modernization works of the living quarters of the Student Corps.

The President of the Republic, accompanied by the Ministers for National Defence and for Education and by the Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff and the Chief of the Army General Staff, presided at the commemorative ceremonies of the Day of the Colégio Militar (Military School).

The President of the Republic was accompanied by the Minister of National Defence and by the Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff in his visit to this unit, incorporated in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

In a stop-over on his visit to the National Detached Force in the Lebanon, the President of the Republic was welcomed, in Beirut airport, by the Lebanese Prime Minister, Fouad Siniora, with whom he had a meeting.

The President of the Republic visited Air Force Base No. 5, in Monte Real, for the launching of the air policing operation by a detachment of the Air Force over the Baltic Sea, with a contingent of 4 F-16 aircraft and 170 personnel, during two periods of time.

The President of the Republic visited the Military Academy, in Amadora, where he assisted to a presentation regarding this higher education establishment, observed the new buildings housing the Auditoriums, the Library, and the Students’ Quarters and Common Room, and made contact with cadets coursing the four school years.
