The “Writers in Belém Palace” Programme, which has already been held three times, is open to primary and secondary schools from all over the country, with the objective of providing a meeting point between authors of works recommended by the National Reading Plan and students from different levels of education.
With this initiative, the President of the Republic intends to underline the importance of policies to promote reading, as a fundamental contribution to establishing equal opportunities in the educational system.
Collaborating with the Writers in the Belém Palace Programme are the Portuguese Writers Association, the Portuguese Publishers and Booksellers Association, the National Reading Plan, the School Library Network, and the Portuguese Authors Society.
