Journalists in Belém Palace Introduction

The “Journalists at Belém Palace” Programme was open to basic and secondary education schools from all over the country and ran from 23 October to 11 December 2018.

This first event was attended by ten journalists: Aura Miguel, Eduardo Dâmaso, Fátima Campos Ferreira, Fernando Alves, José Alberto Carvalho, Mafalda Anjos, Manuel Carvalho, Maria Flor Pedroso, Pedro Santos Guerreiro, and Rodrigo Guedes de Carvalho. It was attended by around 700 students enrolled in secondary education or in the 9th year of school, representing approximately 30 schools.

With this initiative, the President of the Republic intends to underline the importance of accurate information in civic education and in the deepening of democracy.

The Journalists at Belém Palace Programme relied on the close collaboration of the National Reading Plan and the School Library Network.
